Got this from a friend from Apple. He said it’s the new packaging for a re-release of Snow Leopard.

Appears to be a poorly cropped tiger leopard though. Me thinks it reminds me of Down Syndrome Tiger.

In the second half of this decade, I’ve noticed something. Quite a few light hearted comedies use this. It’s called Futura. Well, the Futura font family. I’ve collected a bunch of movie posters online that portray this idea:

The Hot Chick (2004)

50 First Dates (2004) – although the ‘50′ looks like a Helvetica Neue Wide variant

You Don’t Mess with the Zohan (2008)

Fred Claus (2007)

How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2009)

The Invention of Lying (2009)

Anyone else know of movies that use Futura in their posters?

Here are my top 5 things about Adelaide for me:

1. Celebrating cousin’s garden wedding in Adelaide Hills with the rest of the family

2. Chilling out at a Ford Ranger cup game at Adelaide Oval

3. Reflecting and pondering on Henley Beach jetty
4. Nicer and calmer drivers on the roads compared to Perth

5. Their beaches are on the west coast – meaning great sunsets!

Had a recent trip to Kuala Lumpur and Adelaide on a recent holiday. Here are my top 5 things/memories about Malaysia (for me):

1. Seeing and hanging out with relatives I hadn’t seen for nearly a decade. And meeting some new family too…
2. Meeting Peter Ong for the first time. This man journeyed with Dad faithfully when he first made a commitment to Christ. Peter only made contact with my Dad this year for a long time – it’s been 35 years.
3. Food. Very cheap food. Having 5 meals on any given day. Breakfast – 2 Roti Canai (bread with curry dip) and Milk Tea costs me $1.20 AUD.
4. Shopping. The choice is enormous and bargains to be had. Always.
5. The various smells and buzz of Petaling Street, Chinatown.

Next entry – top 5 things about Adelaide. Hmm, it might be a little tougher than expected. Just joking :)

There are many things in this world that confuse me. I was thinking one night when I was driving home about the personality tests. In each one I’ve done, I’ve always scored ‘Melan-phlegmatic’.

But I always felt a little funny about those who got an even mixture of all four – phlegmatic, sanguine, melancholy and choleric. Although these are only just guides, they shouldn’t determine one’s destiny and future. Sure, they might point them in a direction but a person’s choice determines this, not personality.

I read somewhere that “your destiny is in your hands, not in Myers and Briggs”.

These four temperaments are only but a reflection of the way we feel we need to place logic on everything around us. We live in a world of contrast, tension and grey shades. Here are some of life’s unanswerable questions:

  • When waiting for a lift to move, why do we keep pushing the lift button when it only needs to be pressed once?
  • The same applies to traffic light pedestrian crossings
  • Why do men have nipples?
  • Why is the word ‘abbreviation’ so long?
  • What’s another word for ’synonym finder’?
  • When it rains, why don’t sheep shrink?
  • Why do we need to nail down the lid of coffin?
  • There are disgruntled employees, what about gruntled employees?
  • When companies ship styrofoam, what do they pack it in?
  • Why don’t psychics win the lottery more often?

And finally, here’s a clip of a guy who sings like a girl. And he sings like, really well, probably better than most girls. Now that’s ambiguous.

Received this email from Scott Pape today, the Barefoot Investor. He suggests something so simple – I’m going to give it a go to give my mid year a re-start.

The other day I was chatting to my new neighbor who’d just moved in. Struggling with all the ’stuff’ he had accumulated and now had to move in with, he said:

‘In my job as a doctor I see people who are dying all the time. They never talk about their possessions. They never say ‘what I’m really most proud about is the 7 Series BMW I bought last year’. They talk about what they achieved, their relationships and their life experiences.’

So while we all know that, with all the marketing manipulation that surrounds us, it’s still easy to fall into the trap of ‘he who has the most toys wins’ – most of us know deep down that marketing is all about creating a void that can never be filled with enough ’stuff’.

Let’s be honest: money may not make you happy, but it gives you choices, and the ability to experience many wonderful things that a person deeply in debt cannot – even if something as simple as taking time off to go camping with your kids.

That’s why the best investment you can ever make is to set aside the time to work out what you really want — and it’s easier than you think.

Most people don’t have goals. Of those that do, most don’t ever write them down. Of those who manage to write them down, most never refer back to them.

The best method I’ve found to achieve goals takes less than five minutes each day. Grab a notebook and pen and keep it next to your bed. Instead of watching David Letterman’s lame ‘Top 10′ gags, create your own.

Each night write down your top 10 goals – without referring back to what you wrote the previous night.

Doing this consistently will clarify your thoughts. You may find, as I did, that for the first few weeks your goals change. That’s the filtering process of working out what you really want. Eventually, after a month or so, you’ll find yourself writing out the same goals word for word each night – that’s when you know you’ve nailed it.

Once you get to this point you’ll have the clarity to move confidently towards your most important goals — and should never again be stuck for the answer to where am I going?

Tread your own path!

Joel Seneque made a comment that he doesn’t like people who update their blog.
Michael Clark states that in order to fill in things that you don’t have time, you just insert a Youtube clip in.
